1. A utility paragraph

Bad draft, then a repair that answers the marks.

Bad draft

In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, our comprehensive GIS solution seamlessly integrates service line data to ensure optimal asset management and enhanced operational efficiency across the utility network. The as-built documentation has been fully updated to reflect the latest field conditions, providing stakeholders with a robust single source of truth.

  • PAD — landscape, seamless integration, operational efficiency, single source of truth.
  • SOR — no packet, work order, LocusView as-built, or GIS named as the source.
  • INV — “fully updated” is a completion claim. Nothing in the draft shows a comparison.
  • AUD — “stakeholders” is not the person who posts or holds the feature.
  • TERM — “single source of truth” is not a status in the system of record.

Repair

The service-line feature still shows the retired steel stub. The field packet shows a polyethylene service replaced to the meter. The old steel was abandoned in place and capped at the main. The LocusView as-built is in the packet and has not been posted. Hold the feature until material, abandon status, and the station on the as-built match. Then post from that as-built and write the packet id on the note.

2. One record, two readers

Given facts: a new service was installed from the main to the meter. Material is PE. The old steel service was abandoned in place and capped at the main. The tap is 42 feet east of the property line. The as-built PDF is in the packet and is not yet posted to the map.

Mapper

Service, main to meter. Material: PE. Prior steel: abandoned in place, capped at the main. Tap offset: 42 ft east of the property line, as stated on the as-built in the packet. As-built: not posted. Do not change the steel stub on the map until the post is made from that as-built.

Coordinator

The crew installed the new PE service and abandoned the old steel in place, capped at the main. The as-built is in the packet and is not on the map yet. The order stays open until the mapper posts it. The tap offset is on the as-built if someone needs the figure. It does not change the wait.

3. A procedure with a stop

Vague

Review the as-built against the field packet and update the GIS as needed to ensure data quality before closing the work order.

  • STEP — “review” has no list, “update” has no permission, “as needed” hides the branch.
  • PAD — “ensure data quality” names a hope, not an action.

Numbered, with a stop

  1. Open the work order and the field packet. Confirm the packet contains the LocusView as-built.
  2. Compare three items only: material, the station or length on the as-built, and whether the old service was abandoned in place.
  3. If any of the three disagrees with the feature, stop. Do not edit the feature. Note the disagreeing item and return the packet.
  4. If all three agree, post the as-built to the feature and record the packet identifier in the note.
